7 Tips To Make 2020 A Great Year!

As we enter into not just a new year but a new decade, it’s a great time to pause on all the distractions and create a window of time to get very clear about your year and decade ahead. One of my favourite Sanskrit phrases is ‘yad bhavam tat bhavati’ which means what we think we become. It all starts here, with the thought, the intention and the vision. Then the manifestation of that thought into reality is what follows.

Making 2020 a great year is going to require some planning AND action. I like to put aside a morning or afternoon to dedicate some time solely to laying out my vision for the year ahead and getting clear on how I would like that year to unfold. It’s a process that requires a few stages so I have outlined 7 tips on how to create a magnificent 2020.

1. OBSERVE. Observe 2019 and ask what would you have changed about it? Einstein once said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. So if there are things that you didn’t like in 2019, and you don’t assess them and use that information to create change, then it could well be that similar experiences will re-occur in 2020. So scan back through the year and pinpoint the experiences or results that you would like to address or change so that they don’t reappear in the following year. Now I need to make a point here that this is not to look back with regret, pain, shame or suffering, rather look back from a place of learning, growth and possibility.

2. GOALS. Write down what your BIG HAIRY AUDACIOUS GOAL is for 2020. This is the one big thing that you would like to see happen by the end of 2020. It will be the one thing that in December 2020 you will be able to say, “YES! I did it!!” and possibly even do a fist pump at the same time having known you really stepped up and achieved something that was a great accomplishment! Think BIG!

3. FEEL IT. Feel like it’s already happened. To attract what you want, you need to be energetically aligned to the thing that you are attracting. So if you want to attract abundance, you will need to stop feeling poor. If you want to be in a loving relationship, then start by being loving. Your feelings are like a wifi signal that emit out into the ether and it draws into you similar energies or vibrations. This is one of the more challenging aspects of this process because generally our feelings are a result of our past experiences and if we haven’t had the experience then how do we know what it feels like? This is where your imagination will have to come in. I had a client who wanted to buy a house in a beachside town. They loved the idea but never imagined it would ever come true. I had them everyday imagine they walked from their home to the beach each morning and felt the sand between their toes and the sun on their skin and the sea breeze in their face. And within a year they had bought their home by the sea and were living that reality. We were given an imagination for a reason!

4. PLAN. Time can fly by and before you know it very little has been done to manifest your new reality. Each week you will have to carve out some time to make sure that your vision actually goes from a thought to a reality. I like to print off a weekly calendar and highlight the times that I will be dedicating to enhance certain areas of my life and also to assess my goals and check they are still on track. This can look like blocking out 3 mornings a week for a gym workout or yoga class. Sunday nights might be a 1-hour vision assessment session. Monday evening could be dedicated to going through your banking, bills and finances. Once you segment and allocate the time for these things it takes the stress out of having to get around to doing them and also brings more order to your process of achieving your goals.

5. READ. There are thousands of great self-help books to help you continue to expand your thinking and keep it positive and productive. Where your attention goes it grows. So if your mind is engaged in a positive self-help book it will be upgrading your thoughts a whole lot more than a trashy Netflix series. You could pick 12 books that you want to read that year and aim for one a month. Some suggestions to get you started are: The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks, The Success Principles by Jack Canfield, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra and The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles.

6. MEDITATE. One of the most important things I feel you could do if you aren’t already doing it is meditate everyday. Meditation contributes to every area of your life from physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. But when it comes to expanding your perspective of who you are and what’s possible for in 2020, then meditation will play a big part. When you meditate your mind liberates itself from deep conditioning of old patterns of thinking that can hold you back with self-doubt and unworthiness. In meditation you may experience impulses of creativity and bursts of ideas that flow through you. Things like writing a book, a business idea or an impulse for an investment. Meditation isn’t about renouncing the world and having nothing, it’s a tool to help you tap into your creative potential and live a full life.

7. ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER. Find yourself an accountability partner who will check in with you regularly to make sure you are on track. It’s very easy to start on January 1st, 2020 with all the best intentions. Ideas are easy. Action, that’s another thing altogether. Action takes time and effort. To create a great successful life we will have to do things that you simply won’t feel compelled to do which means that often you will naturally take the easiest option which won’t always be the best option. An accountability partner is someone that you could meet once a month and assess each other’s progress. This might sound laborious however it does have huge benefits to it. Another option is to find a good coach that will do this job for you.

So here we are, we have farewelled 2019 and embracing a new year. A year that will have twists and turns, unmet expectations, highs and lows. It won’t be perfect and it will present challenges. There will also be magical moments of such beauty, simplicity and joy. I wish you a wonderful year ahead. Thanks for being with us on this journey through 2019. Here’s to making the planet a better place to live for all species in 2020.

7 Tips To Make 2018 A Cracking Year!!!

2018Now we are on the cusp of 2018 it’s time to sit down and ask yourself, how can I make this coming year a hugely successful year on ALL levels? Do you just let it unravel and ‘see what happens’ or map it out and be the creator of it. I’ve mentioned before the Sanskrit phrase yad bhavam tat bhavati which means what we think we become. It all starts here, with the thought, the intention and the vision. Then the manifestation of that thought into reality is what follows next.

Making 2018 a great year is going to require some planning AND action. I like to put aside a morning or afternoon to dedicate some time solely to laying out my vision for the year ahead and getting clear on how I would like that year to unfold. It’s a process that requires a few stages so I have outlined 7 tips on how to create a magnificent 2018.

1. OBSERVE. Observe 2017 and ask what would you have changed about it? Einstein once said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. So if there are things that you didn’t like in 2017, and you don’t assess them and use that information to create change, then it could well be that similar experiences will re-ocurr in 2018. So scan back through the year and pin point the experiences or results that you would like to address or change so that they don’t reappear in the following year. 4 Tips On How To Let Go Of 2016 And Soar Into 2017

2017How was 2016 for you?

Was it a year that you could look back on with pleasure or pain? Do you look back on it with smiles or sadness?

I know for some of our Tribe it was a very difficult year, and for others they had a highly successful year. Well regardless of what year you had, in today’s article I’m going to share some tips with you on how to make 2017 a wonderfully successful year!

Whether 2016 was a tough year or not for you, one thing is sure, that 2016 is coming to an end. It’s past, finished, history. DONE! Now what lies ahead is 2017. You have a year ahead of incredible possibilities. You have 365 days to wake up and live a remarkable life. Before you is a blank canvas and you get to create the life you intend.

To do this though you will need to have strategy. You need to have a plan. If 2016 wasn’t such a good year and you continue doing the same thing over and over again in 2017 will anything change? Or will it continue to be the same recurring experiences for the next 12 months? Einstein said insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. So what can you do to create a successful, healthy and vibrant 2017?

Here are some tips:

1. Gratitude: Spend some time to list as many things as possible that you are grateful for in 2016. If you really go deep into this you will be amazed at how many things you can find to be grateful for. For instance, loved ones who supported you, a body that carried you around, the sun that gave you warmth, rain that quenched your thirst, trees that supplied you with oxygen, a job that provided you with wealth etc etc. As you write this list you will notice how your body changes the way it feels. It will be lighter and you will feel more abundant. When you feel more abundant, you will attract more abundance.
2. Re-write history: Look back on 2016 and see where your pain points were. Where were there times that really challenged you and caused pain? Let’s not be afraid to look at those moments and see how we can find growth out of that experience. This won’t be easy to do, and it might not be something you are ready to do, and that’s ok. But if you ARE ready and willing, find courage to delve into that experience and ask how has this helped me grow and live a better life in 2017? Has it helped me discover compassion? Has it helped me cultivate Self-love? Has it helped me connect deeper to those that support me? Has it inspired me to learn to meditate, read books or attend courses that broadened my awareness about life? Can you find something to elevate you from that experience?
3. Revamp your health: Our body is a complex system that is completely interwoven. It’s designed to have numerous parts all working together efficiently and effectively. It’s amazing that it will do this for 60, 70, 80….120 years and more! AMAZING! But it does need the right fuel and maintenance to keep functioning optimally. It’s really simple though. This piece of equipment needs non-toxic living foods like fruit, vegetables and cultured foods that are packed with minerals and nutrients. It needs plenty of clean non-toxic water, good fats and oils, and proteins and carbohydrates (paleo’s would disagree about the carbs and that’s ok). Your body also needs to move and have good blood flow, so regular exercise which will also enhance muscle development and improve bone density. To counteract this it also needs to be stretched and be supple. (Did someone mention yoga?) As you can see, health is simple. Of course the body is fallible and has limitations, so perfect health is an ideal. I do all of these things and still have rotator cuff issues and a meniscus tear in my knee! It’s ok though, accepting the body has limits and fallibility is part of this process but my intention is to FEEL amazing in my body.
4. Upgrade your software: No doubt you have a smartphone. Yes? 🙂 How often are you asked to update the software by the makers of the phone? Every month? Possibly more often than that? What will you do in 2017 to update your software? In #3 we discuss the hardware, your body, well let’s now look at the software. Is it running with an old outdated operating system? Updating your software is critical to updating your life. Old thought patterns of self-doubt, fear, poverty-mindsets, unworthiness and limitation manifest into your health, relationships, wealth and spirituality. There is a sanskrit phrase ‘Yadbhavam Tat Bhavati’ which means what we think we become. To create a magnificent life we need to upgrade our thoughts and get clear on the life we intend to create. To do this you will really have to stretch your mind beyond the boundaries of what it’s conditioned to think. This will require regular attention on a daily basis and a daily meditation practice. In transcending style meditations your mind goes beyond the limitations of thought and dips into a field of infinite possibility. When the mind stabilises in this vast field you will be amazed at the thoughts that bubble up in your mind!
So the question is are you going to drift aimlessly into 2017 and ‘hope’ everything turns out ok or are you going to leap right in with clear direction and intention to create a sublime year. You are truly worthy of a magnificent life and it starts with this belief first and foremost. Make 2017 your year of transformation, growth and inner-love.

Happy New Year!

Love Tom

6 Tips For A Magnificent 2016!

new year

It’s hours away here until the close of 2015. What a year! No doubt you have experienced twists and turns with some incredible highlights and also some challenging times. This is life yeh? It moves, it ebbs and flows; it will be ecstatic at times and painful at times.

This time of year can be a time of sadness for some and for others an exciting time of growth and cleansing. I was out surfing the other day and I over heard one of the surfers say to another one:

“Mate I just can’t wait for this year to end!”

Must have been a tough year! However wishing time to pass quickly because life is unbearable will not create any new experiences going forward. It will only attract the same experience just with a different calendar. So how do we create a magical 2016? Well it’s yours right now to create. A blank canvas for you to design an awesome life!

Here are a few tips for you to build your foundation of a magnificent year ahead:

  1. Let go. Let go of the pain, the anger, the regrets, the suffering and the stories of the past. It’s time to look forward and not back. Holding on to grudges, and ‘should have’ stories won’t serve you in 2016. Let’s shrug it all off, shake it away and let go of that load of heaviness. 2016 is all about being light!
  2. Be thankful. No matter where you are in life, there is always something to be thankful for. When we acknowledge the beauty of life around us, it changes the way we feel, and when we change the way we feel, we change what we attract.
  3. Commit to something new. Yep, I started last night. I was asked what is my new year’s resolution and I was stumped, because I didn’t have one! So I decided my new year’s resolution would be to write in a notebook each night before I go to sleep all the things I was grateful for that day, and just that day. I was amazed at how many things I found to be grateful for and how good I felt to write them all down. So this is my ‘NEW’ thing for 2016. (Which ties in well with number 2) What will your ‘NEW’ thing be for 2016? Yoga twice a week? Meditate each day? Do an act of kindness each day? Attend a retreat? Please tell me below this article, we’d all love to hear and get inspired!
  4. Set your goals for 2016! The captain of the ship always has their port of destination in their sites. Do you know where you want to go? Do you know what you want to do? Get clear on these goals and write them down. This is something we will be covering at our 1 day Urban Retreat & Vision Day on Jan 16th if you need some assistance with this.
  5. Choose excitement over fear. You can fear what’s ahead or be excited about what’s ahead. You get to choose. Fear and excitement are very similar feelings, with a very slight shift. One is positive and one is negative. One is contraction, and one is expansion. Fear moves you away from something, and excitement moves you towards it. “I’m afraid of speaking on stage”- CONTRACTION. “I’m excited about speaking on stage”- EXPANSION. Get excited about the life ahead!
  6. Love. No, not ‘I need you’ love; not ‘I can’t live without you’ love; not ‘I hope someone will love me’ love. This is a love that is found deep in your heart. It’s there right now. It’s a radiant burning glow of fiery love right in you NOW. Seek and you will find. Get out of your head and into your heart and radiate love. This will totally change your 2016 BIG TIME!

I am EXCITED to be part to your journey in 2016. I am GRATEFUL for you being part of our journey in 2015. Thank you! You’re amazing and I feel so much love for this Stillness Tribe. Let’s do some massive things in 2016! And again, please share with us below something new that you will be doing in 2016. It will be inspiring to hear.
